As the world continues to adapt in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are all learning a new normal. We are adjusting together, yet this is an unprecedented challenge to the basic promises we make to our children about their education.
Our teachers, alumni, and staff are a critical part of a safety net for more than 250,000 vulnerable and low-income children in our community. Teach For America Miami-Dade staff is working with our teachers to prioritize the health and safety of our network while continuing teacher support, programming, and meetings virtually.
Now, more than ever, we need your support.
Our collective is strengthened by developing great teacher leaders, but it is rooted in community. We're here for you, too.
Teach For America Miami-Dade put together this Catalog of Resources to support teachers, students, school leaders, parents and community members through the current pandemic. Our national office has also gathered resources to support communities during the coronavirus outbreak, see the national hub here.
We're in this together, we mean that.

"My students and I started a chain of sending videos saying what we missed and motivating each other! I post them on our Classdojo and I created a make-shift classroom at home that brought a lot of joy to the kiddos. We finally have Zoom working for a few kids and they are so excited to see each other!"
"In my first virtual call with students on Zoom the Friday before we left for Spring Break, I lead a science lesson all on the Coronavirus. We just recently covered the human body in science, so students were excited to talk about viruses and the role our body has in fighting them off. Students were SO engaged and happy to see each other virtually!"
Teach For America is matching any and all donations 1:1 up to $1,000 during Teacher Appreciation Week May 4-8, 2020.
That means your gift of $10 becomes $20. Those are the kind of numbers we like to see doubled these days. We're asking you to support educational equity by giving to Teach For America Miami-Dade. Lets show up for our teachers and our students in an unprecedented way during this unprecedented time.
When life forces us to slow down, we’re witness to the amazing people who keep us going.
Thank you, teachers, for guiding Miami-Dade children in a dark moment towards a brighter future through equity-minded education. Thank you for adapting, so quickly, to virtual learning so that even in distancing Miami-Dade students are never too far from daily learning.
Join us in thanking a special teacher that is helping you through this pandemic by:
1. Posting a video or a photo telling us about the teacher you’re grateful for
2. Tagging @tfamiamidade on Instagram and Facebook and using the hashtag #ThankaTeacherChallenge
